OCT’s programming pause begins september 1, 2025

Effective Monday, September 1, Oregon Children's Theatre is pausing all programming as we begin writing the next act in our storied history. While this means we will not be producing shows or hosting classes this fall, we are thoughtfully working behind-the-scenes, envisioning a new community-centered, inclusive, and financially-sound pathway forward in service to the children, youth, and families in Oregon and Southwest Washington. We know this pause may be disruptive to you and your family, but we are thankful to have this time to plan how we can better serve you when we relaunch our programming.

What happens next?

Many of you have asked us, “What comes next? What are you doing during this pause? When will you reopen?”

We have already taken some critical first steps and have engaged with local business consultants to conduct community-based research and funding feasibility. This information will be the foundation as we reimagine OCT’s programming.

In September our Board of Directors and Staff will begin the strategic planning process: we will analyze data, review survey responses from our families, and identify next steps and a pathway to reopening. Our intention is to bring programming back to the community as soon as it is financially feasible for us to do so, and we are so excited to share that vision with you.

During this time, as our administrative team remains hard at work visioning OCT's new future, we are still working toward our $1 million fundraising goal that will help sustain us as we re-establish our programming. We're nearly half way there and have raised over $415,000 so far—if you haven't had a chance to support our campaign yet, now is the time!

Get Involved

Want to make an impact and support OCT's next chapter? Get involved and make a difference by joining an advisory committee! These small groups focus on a single aspect of the organization's needs, such as fundraising or strategic planning, and simply require a desire to serve. We are also actively seeking individuals to join our Board of Directors, to serve in a more robust capacity. If you are interested in learning more about Board service or our advisory committees, please reach out to Board President Katie Slavin.
