future.
Oregon Children’s Theatre is in a critical moment of transformation: we are needing to examine every aspect of our business, and reassess the need in our community in Portland and beyond. As a member of the Oregon Children’s Theatre Board of Directors, your leadership sets the bar for the community’s involvement and investment in Oregon Children’s Theatre.
Your gift of time, expertise and resources are critical to our organization’s success and growth. Thus, every board member is asked to contribute to the organization in a myriad of ways, playing to each individual’s strengths and resources.
The Board of Directors fully supports and embodies the mission and values of the organization and are passionate about moving OCT forward in partnership with staff, leadership, and our community, leading through the lenses of equity, empathy, and antiracism.
Are you a good fit for oCT’s Board?
If you have a desire to serve youth and families in Oregon we’d love to talk to you! We are seeking individuals who may have these experiences or skills, but all interested individuals are encouraged to contact us about Board service.

board requirements
OCT’s Board of Directors serves as the organization’s governing body and fundraisers; serving in a volunteer capacity, Board members are encouraged to use their personal & professional skills to guide and support OCT in a variety of ways, including:
Attend at least 9 of 12 monthly board meetings per year in person or via conference call with video on, when not in person. Meetings are held monthly, typically over lunch, the last Thursday of the month and are typically 1.5 hours. Board members who miss two consecutive board meetings are asked to reevaluate their commitment to the organization.
Attend an annual board retreat in June.
Attend OCT productions, and act as an “ambassador” for the company.
Contribute to the success of fundraising events in a significant way through securing attendees, sponsorships, and/or personal donation of an amount that is meaningful to you.
A commitment to equity, diversity, and anti-racism, in alignment with OCT’s priorities, including participation in training opportunities and discussions, and engagement with resources provided.
