Class policies & FAQs

  • We’re excited to implement a new registration program, Sawyer, to make registering for OCT classes easier and more convenient for families. By using Sawyer to register, you’ll be able to:

    • Create a family profile and add multiple children all under one account

    • Book activities with ease and on the go

    • Experience user-friendly and mobile-responsive management

    • Pay online automatically and securely

    • Manage your schedule all in one place

    • Sync your child(ren)’s bookings to your iCal or Google calendar

You can get started with Sawyer in one of two ways: create your family’s account by following this link; or begin your class registration process and create an account at checkout.

Important note: if you already have a Sawyer account that you’ve used to register for classes or events through other organizations, you do NOT need to create a new Sawyer account for OCT. You can log in using the same credentials you have used previously.

Once you’ve created your account you can add children to your profile, add stored payment methods, and more.

    How to Register

    • View current class offerings on our website. You can use different filters to show classes by age group and location.

    • To learn more about or register for a class, click the “More Info” button on the right side.

    • Click the “Register” button to reserve your child’s spot in the class. You’ll be asked to either log into or create your Sawyer account.

    • Select or add the child(ren) you’d like to register for the class, then hit “Add to Cart.”

    • You can click either “Keep Shopping” or “Checkout.” If you have a promotional code you’d like to use you may enter it here.

    • Review the classroom policies and medical release information, then complete the remaining questions about your child.

    • Provide payment and complete your purchase. Click “Place Order” and you’re done! Watch for your order confirmation to the email you’ve provided.

If you prefer, you may also register for classes by calling Acting Academy at (503) 228-9571.

Registration Deadlines: You may register up to the start of class provided there are still spaces available.

  • Full payment for the class(es) is required at registration. If you are unable to make a full payment for the class upon registering, please call our Acting Academy at (503) 936-2616 or email Education Director Blake Wales.

  • We believe that all children deserve access to arts education, and that cost should not be a barrier; funding assistance and scholarships are available for all Acting Academy classes. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact Nick Condon, Education Programs Coordinator.

  • The Hanna Building: Located at 541 NE 20th Ave (next door to OCT’s previous location in NE Sandy Blvd), the Hanna Building is home to OCT’s administrative offices and rehearsal/classroom space. Students should enter the building on 20th Ave through the main doors, then head upstairs to Suite 220. Check out this quick walkthrough video of our new space! You can also download the welcome letter here.

Multnomah Arts Center: Find us in SW Portland at Multnomah Arts Center! Located in Multnomah Village, classes are held in the Cottages (located at the corner of SW Capitol Highway & SW 34th Ave). Multnomah Village offers a variety of nearby hangouts for parents looking for a quick bite or drink while waiting for students. You can find the welcome letter here.

Curious Comedy Theater: Located off Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd in NE Portland, classes at Curious Comedy Theater are held in the main theater space (enter on the east side of the building off MLK Blvd) or the Annex Theater (enter on the west side of the building from the rear parking lot). You will be instructed on which classroom your class is in upon registering for your class. There is a parking lot available as well as street parking.

Portland’5: During our Summer term we offer classes downtown at the Portland’5 Centers for the Arts, located at 1111 SW Broadway.

  • Once registered, you will receive an email confirming your enrollment, stating your balance due and due date, the class location, and other general information.

  • We will refund your tuition up to two weeks before the first day of class. Refunds are not given for cancellations made less than two weeks before the first day of class. Cancellations on or after the first day of class are not eligible for refunds.

  • If a single class instance is cancelled due to weather, illness, or any other reason OCT will strive to find a make-up class date. Oregon Children’s Theatre reserves the right to cancel any class in a term for any reason; if a class is cancelled for the entire term, any tuition paid will be refunded in full.

  • Students should come to class in clothing that is comfortable to move in and closed toed shoes. We strongly recommended students bring a water bottle or canteen and a nut-free small snack. For full-day summer camps students should also bring a nut-free sack lunch that does not require refrigeration.

Students should also bring a positive attitude, their imagination, and be ready to have some fun!

  • To maintain appropriate numbers of people in our classrooms, parents are not allowed to enter our classroom spaces to observe or watch the class. If you believe this will limit your child’s ability to take the class please contact Blake Wales or call 503-936-2616. For smaller class sizes or classes for students 1–5 years old, we can accommodate parents waiting on site. Please touch base with the OCT staff member upon your arrival.

  • At this time we are unable to provide additional childcare before or after our classes. Please be as prompt as possible for class drop-off and pick-up. Check-in for classes begins approximately five minutes prior to class start time. We also offer a 10-minute grace period for pickup after class.

  • You'll be receiving pertinent class information the week before your class is scheduled to begin. This will include the class details, check in/out instructions, and site-specific contact information; please reference this email for who to contact if you have running late for class.

If you anticipate being late for pick-up, please call us at (503) 936-2616. OCT offers a 10-minute grace period once your child's class is finished.
