Oregon Children’s Theatre is committed to providing free resources for teachers who wish to enhance their field trip experience or increase their knowledge of theater. Please see below for a calendar of upcoming professional development events.

Become an OCT Teacher Liaison!

OCT invites teachers interested in theater arts to join our network of teacher liaisons. OCT seeks to develop relationships with teachers interested in being an arts advocate at their school and offering input to OCT about our school program development. Liaisons receive special benefits, invitations to behind-the-scenes events, and other opportunities!

Teacher Liaison Benefits:

o   Attend an OCT tech rehearsal of the 2012-13 production of your choice (Please email us for dates. Subject to availability.)
o   Free field trip tickets for all teachers in your school group reservation
o   Invitations to teacher workshops, staged readings and rehearsals, author/playwright events, and more
o   Invitations to all 2012-2013 teacher previews
o   Early ordering opportunities

October 18, 2012 – Duck for President Teacher Preview
5:45pm Inside Production: Backstage Tour with OCT’s Technical Director
7:00pm Final Dress Rehearsal

December 1, 2012 – Directing Workshop and Pinkalicious performance
(Performance at 2pm, workshop at 3pm)*
Directing the school play or looking for some theater tools for your classroom? Come see OCT’s Pinkalicious, and then join OCT Artistic Director Stan Foote for a one hour workshop on directing students. Children are welcome to attend (two complimentary Pinkalicious tickets per teacher).

January 2013 –The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe working rehearsal(exact date and time TBD)
Have you ever wondered about the rehearsal process that takes an OCT production from load-in to final dress rehearsal in under a week? Go behind the scenes to observe an early working rehearsal of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

January 18, 2013 –The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe Teacher Preview
5:45pm Inside Production: Backstage Tour with OCT’s Technical Director
7:00pm Final Dress Rehearsal

January 26, 2013 – Gathering Blue staged reading and Q&A with playwright Eric Coble(time TBD) *
Join us for the first staged reading of this world-premiere play! Playwright Eric Coble will be in attendance and there will be a Q&A with teachers after the reading.

February 2013 –Fairy Tale Theater workshop (exact date TBD)*
Learn theater games, teaching tools, and hands-on ways to integrate theater into a fairy tale unit. A great way to enhance your field trip to OCT’s The Stinky Cheese Man.

March 1^st, 2013 –The Stinky Cheese Man Teacher Preview
